Every business
is assembled.

Some businesses are assembled on purpose. Most simply accumulate, one tool at a time, until the work has to bend around them. We redesign that environment deliberately, around the people doing the work, and build it out of whatever the work actually needs.

§ 1What happens here?

We work the way an architect works. Before the shape, before the materials, there is one question: what happens here?

A business is really the sum of wherever its work happens, and most of those corners were never designed. The answer to what happens here? decides everything that gets built. Once it is clear, the components almost choose themselves.

§ 2Recognition

You already know where it catches.

Recognition comes before any recommendation. Most owners can point straight to where the work snags. Mark what sounds familiar.

These are plates from the field guide, each drawn from real work we assembled around the person doing it. Read them as evidence rather than case studies; the larger idea emerges through the examples.

Real Estate Developer Assemblya place each client can see their own project whole

A developer runs several projects at once for clients spread across the country. Each opens their own portal and finds the project whole: progress, photographs, selections, approvals, invoices, and every conversation, arranged the way it was promised.

Patient Advocacy Assemblya place where a life’s records can be found

A patient advocate builds evidence-based packets for people facing rare diagnoses. What once meant weeks of reading hundreds of papers for every new client now assembles from a disease-specific library gathered once, so a newly diagnosed family receives a thorough, personalized packet in days.

A novelist writing complex place-based fiction had years of it scattered: research, interviews, historical documents, photographs, maps, timelines, and evolving drafts. Now every piece lives in one connected workspace, cross-referenced and searchable, so a book holds together at a scale no one person could keep in their head.

Each wedding is designed the way a magazine is: client intake, site analysis, an editorial point of view, design direction, and vendor documentation, gathered into one practice. What lived only in the designer’s judgment now has a place to be worked out, so every couple ends with clearer direction and a keepsake design book.

A geospatial analyst repeated the same sequence on every project: research, data preparation, interpretation, mapping, report production, and client communication. Most of it lived in his head. Now the datasets, mapping workflows, standard structures, and quality checks sit in one production line, so a brief comes out faster and consistent, with his judgment saved for what actually needs interpreting.

How an assembly gets built.

The work determines the components. The components become the assembly. The assembly is the product.

Read the evidence.

Businesses leave evidence of how they actually work. We study the repeated questions, misplaced information, hand-built documents, workarounds, and tasks that keep returning to one person.

02 · Design

Draw the assembly.

We decide what belongs together, what should disappear, and what the work needs to carry from one moment to the next.

03 · Build

Build around the person.

Some people dictate, some sketch, and some work entirely from a phone on site. The assembly takes its shape from the person doing the work.
