Overview
Field Assembly LLC respects copyright. This page explains what is published here, how quotation is handled, and how to reach us if you believe something on this site infringes your rights.
One thing worth stating at the outset, because it shapes everything below: this site hosts no user-submitted content. There are no accounts, no uploads, and no comments. Everything published here was written or selected by us, so there is no anonymous uploader to identify and no repeat infringer to terminate. Every page is ours to answer for.
1. How Quotation Works Here
Our reference works quote passages from institutions' published documents — student handbooks, procedural safeguards notices, board regulations, and the like — with attribution, the date the passage was recorded, and a link to the original.
We quote what is necessary to report accurately what an institution has said, and no more, for the purpose of reporting and commentary. Many of the documents we quote are government works not subject to copyright.
Where an institution would rather we linked than quoted, we will usually hear that out. Write to us before filing a notice, and say what you would prefer. Our interest is in readers being able to find and check the rule, not in reproducing anyone's text.
2. Designated Agent
Notices of claimed copyright infringement should go to:
Copyright Agent, Field Assembly LLC
Email: [email protected]
Subject line: Copyright Notice
Email reaches us fastest. If you need a postal address for a formal filing, ask and we will provide one.
3. Submitting a Notice
To be effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), a notice should include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.
- Identification of the material on our site, specifically enough that we can find it — the page URL and the passage.
- Your address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
Please note that § 512(f) makes a person who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. Notices sent to suppress accurate reporting of a public document are not well founded, and we will say so.
4. What We Do With a Notice
We read every notice ourselves. We will acknowledge it, look at the passage, and respond with what we intend to do.
If material should not be there, we will remove or revise it promptly and note the change on the page, because corrections here are made on the record. If we believe the use is lawful, we will tell you that and explain why, rather than removing accurate material without a reason.
5. Counter-Notice
Because nothing here is submitted by users, the counter-notice procedure at 17 U.S.C. § 512(g) has no one to run through it: if we remove something, we removed our own material.
If you believe we removed something in error, write to us and say so.
6. Other Intellectual Property
For trademark concerns, or anything else that is not a copyright question, use the same address and describe the issue.
The Field Assembly name and mark are ours. Institution names appear here to identify whose documents are being quoted, which is a descriptive use and not a claim of affiliation or endorsement.
