Automation is the set of steps between events that no one should have to take. A change order is signed; the schedule and the invoice should already know. Automation is the wiring that lets the second thing follow the first without a person carrying it across.
It exists because the steps between events are where time and attention quietly leak. Each one is small, repetitive, and invisible, until a week of them adds up to an evening.
What changes when it is assembled
The quiet steps take themselves. The person is left with the decisions; the consequences of those decisions travel on their own to the places that need them.
A caution belongs here: automation is only as trustworthy as the work it reflects. It should mirror the real process a business already follows, not impose a tidier one that no one actually uses.
A signed document that, in most businesses, still has to be told to three other places by hand.
