Editorial Writing

The words a business needs and rarely has time to write.

Editorial writing is the words a business needs and rarely has time to write: the page that explains the work, the letter that lands right, the description that sounds like the business on one of its better days.

It exists because a business is met through its words before it is met in person, and those words are usually written last, in a hurry, by whoever had a spare minute.

What changes when it is assembled

The writing becomes a material like any other, drawn from what the business actually does and kept current with it. The voice stays consistent because it has a source rather than a mood.

This is the business written down clearly, so the same clarity can appear on the site, in the proposal, and in the letter without being reinvented each time.

Field note

An “about” page written at eleven at night three years ago, still speaking for the business today.
